Bungalow is the new, boutique hotel on the New Jersey Shore in the currently happening town of Long Branch. This is the first hotel project from SIXX DESIGN, The Bravo show stars of ( By Design who are recognized globally for their interesting residential products, always a mix of modern with vintage, high and low. The company’s principles, Robert and Cortney Novogratz, created the interiors for all twenty-four guest rooms, the public spaces, including the café and outdoor areas, as well as curating the hotel’s whimsical art collection.
SIXX DESIGN’s concept for this hot, new destination was an international surf hotel featuring many decorative and design elements from around the world. The bar and lobby area was built by famed wood craftsman, John Houshmand. Natural elements, harmonious with the beautiful beach, were used for his unique designs. All lighting came from iconic design store, Moss, in NYC.
As part of the atmospheric art collection, surfing photography from celebrated artists Patrick Cariou, Jeff Devine and Tony Carminico was used extensively throughout the hotel. British artist Ann Carrington’s portrait of Queen Elizabeth (made from thousands of pearls) is the focal point of the lobby area. Her interpretation of 24 flags from around the world was fabricated from denim, ribbons, fur and other unexpected materials. Other artistic offerings come from Victor Skrebenski, Slim Aarons, and more.
