The Draycott is a five-star luxury hotel situated just around the corner from Chelsea’s Sloane Square and Kensington. Occupying three restored red brick Edwardian homes, the property evokes old world elegance and charm in a supreme London location. There are 35 suites at the Draycott Hotel, many with their own fireplace and garden view.

Recently, the Draycott has increased their efforts to become the most eco-friendly boutique hotel in London. Among these initiatives is their “Keen to Be Green” program, a unique CO2-free way to explore London that is exclusively accessible to guests of the hotel. The program maps out handpicked routes to walk, cycle, or take public transportation. The Draycott Hotel also offers guided green tours or unguided tours via walking maps and bicycling routes for the do-it-yourselfer.

The Draycott’s recycling initiative includes innovative in-room recycling bins that blend seamlessly into the luxurious setting of each room. Also in keeping with the theme of recycling, the hotel switched to 100% recycled paper and installed a new printing infrastructure that has decreased paper usage by more than 30%.

As one can see, the Draycott’s efforts are not just all talk, and a few prolific organizations have taken notice. The hotel has received a gold award from the Green Tourism for London Scheme for “Good Practice Throughout.” This is the highest classification for the program that rates hotels based on more than 150 indicators of good sustainable practices. The Draycott is also a member of the Considerate Hoteliers Association as a part of their commitment to become the most eco-friendly boutique hotel in London. The hotel was a finalist for the Considerate Hotelier Association’s “Hotel of the Year” award and AA’s “Eco Hotel of the Year” award.

Aside from the Draycott’s environmental efforts, they also boast a warm staff and thoughtful personal touches that make the hotel an indulgent and luxurious ‘home away from home.’ Complimentary tea and homemade biscuits are served at 4:00pm, champagne is served at 6:00pm, and hot chocolate is served at 9:30pm in the Drawing Room for each guest, making the Draycott a very charming destination. There is also an honesty bar in the lounge and complimentary handmade shortbread and English traditional sweets are provided on arrival, creating a lovely English experience for visitors.

If you find yourself in London and wishing to stay at a charmingly luxurious five-star boutique hotel that is also environmentally conscious, the Draycott Hotel is the perfect destination.
