Over the last decade, the name “Michael Habachy” has become synonymous with the utmost in luxury residential and commercial design, from Atlanta and Miami to Buenos Aires. The Atlanta-based designer’s recently updated portfolio includes luxury residential properties from Atlanta and Miami to Buenos Aires and the most buzzed-about nightclubs, medspas, chic retail boutiques and four-star restaurants in the Southeast. In an era when designers have become pseudo rockstars and a new lavish nightclub is opening on every corner, Habachy, like the spaces he transforms, is set apart by an approachable warmth. Refined yet inviting; lavish but never pretentious.
His approach, “minimalism, with an unexpected punch of glamour” has earned the designer recognition locally, in his hometown of Atlanta, nationally and internationally. Most recently, his flair for livable glam earned the designer a spot on two episodes of HGTV’s newest design competition, Design Wars, where three designers duke it out in one home where the family decides on the winner. The show will premier on December 2nd, with the dates of episodes featuring Habachy yet to be released.
The son of Egyptian immigrants, Michael Habachy grew up in Atlanta and studied art and design at InterContinental University and Georgia State University while crafting metalwork and furnishings for an architect. “My roots furniture design,” Habachy says. “Therefore, I’m more apt to design a piece of furniture or a wall unit to complete my vision instead of purchasing one on display at a furniture store.” This ground-level involvement means that Habachy’s creative stamp is recognizable in every element of a space his design firm, Habachy Designs, Inc.
